Enjoying the Outdoors

A few weeks ago Dave and I decided to go camping up in the mountains and enjoy the outdoors

The leaves were changing and the weather was still nice, so it made for a perfect drive up the canyon. We took the Alpine Loop and camped around Spring Lake. We left Provo pretty late and made it to our campsite around 3am. This is what we woke up to...
For breakfast we had yummy pancakes, eggs, hashbrowns, bacon and juice. It was the BEST camping breakfast i've ever had! Beats granola bars and bagels anytime! After breakfast we packed up and drove the rest of the Alpine Loop and enjoyed the beautiful foliage!

Last weekend we went up Hobble Creek Canyon and drove around till we found a area to camp out on. Weather was nice, but a bit colder than the last camping experience. Dave got the fire going and we warmed up with a yummy cup of hot chocolate!

For dinner we had chicken and beef semi-prepared tin foil dinners with tortillas, guacamole, and chips. Dinner was delicious! For entertainment we watched Seven Pounds.

That night we realized that we forgot to pack the griddle, which presented a problem for making breakfast the next morning. We brought plates with us and decided to sacrifice one and see if it would work as make-shift griddle. I woke up the next morning to the sound of crackling fire and breakfast already made! My boy is awesome!

Breakfast consisted of pancakes, hasbrowns, sausage, hot chocolate, and orange juice.
Thank you Mr. Plate for sacrificing yourself!
Thank you Dave for allowing Mr. Plate be be sacrificed!

Not Knowing...?

I have no idea what got me thinking about this...well actually, im pretty sure it was one of the songs I was listening to while working. So I began staring of into space thinking why is it that many of us like to stay in the dark when it comes to knowing certain things or getting answers to certain questions..etc. Who knows, maybe I'm the only one who feels this way. I guess you could say some things you're better off not knowing, like the song from The Used- "knowing nothing is better than knowing at all" but if you're anything like me...not knowing drives you crazy!! So I kept thinking about it, then it came to me that sometimes it's better to stay in the dark. Sure, in the dark there maybe fear, but there is also HOPE! ...yah, this thought still isnt good enough for me to not want to know, so I guess I will forever go crazy wondering if I want to know or not...which is better??

My New Place

So I finally moved out of my old place, YAY! I spent my friday night unpacking what seemed like millions of boxes. I should have taken pictures to show the craziness of my room before unpacking and during...at one point I thought it would never end.

6 hours later...TADA!

Im still missing my desk which will go at the end of my bed and i still have a few more pictures to hang up, but all the unpacking is done...thats all that matters! Oh and I also have my own private entrance.

she's right outside my door :)

...hot flashes & cold sweats.

Being sick sucks! I've been laying in bed all day...seriously! Not much you can do when your body aches and it feels like it's going to fall to pieces at any moment. Im hot one moment, freezing cold the next...im going crazy! Times like these I just want to crawl into my mommy's lap and have her play with my hair and make it all better. Boo for being thousands of miles away.

Home Sweet Home

Im a little late posting this, but I was able to go home for Easter weekend, which has never happened since I've moved away. I find myself seeing my family more often (not only on Christmas) since I've had my flexible job at the county health dept. I love it! :) I was home for 4 days...not long enough! I love going home, it's like getting a break from my adult life where I get to relax and feel like a kid again. Oh so NICE!

On Friday, dad, sisters, and I went to grandmas for some yummy food. (mom was away in Cancun during my visit). After eating, dad went to find car parts while the girls went to the mall. Dad pretty much gave us his credit card and lets just say that's the last time he's going to do that and that's the last time my mom is going to leave us girls with my dad. Haha! You give 3 girls a credit card and a mall, we're going to make at least a dent in it :) Actually, I made sure my sisters didnt go crazy with it and made sure things they got were on sale. Later that night we all went to the movies to watch Fast and the Furious. I liked it, but the first one is still better.

Saturday we got up super early to head down to Georgetown to watch my cousin play in the high school soccer state championship. This was my first high school event since I graduated and it was fun seeing how somthings never change...like the way the cheerleaders yell out PIRATES (just imagine it with a very thick texan accent...not pleasant). Needless to say I kept making fun of them like I did years ago. The game was very interesting, full of unfair calls and one that resulted in giving the our goalie a red card with 2 minutes left in the game. The game was poorly refed all around. In the end our team got second. On our way back to Forney we stopped at the Hillsboro Outlets and bought an item or two :) By the time we got home it began raining. Can I just how much I love texas thunderstorms! I got so excited for lightning and thunder. The sad thing is that the storms here pass over so quickly, but I love the smell of rain in the air before the storm, during, and after. Even with all the rain we've been getting lately here in Utah..it just doesnt compare.

Easter Sunday my dad made fajitas and carne de puerco con salsa verde, my sis Liz and I made Horchata, and my aunt made rice. Lots of yummy food! My sisters and I wanted to have an easter egg hun, so we convinced my dad to hide eggs for us. It was originally going to be us 3 but we decided to let our cousins join in on the fun. To make the egg hunt even better we added dollas bills to half the eggs.

8 of us ages 5-25!

My dad did a great job of hiding the eggs to the point that we were all frustrated that we couldnt find them. He dug small holes in the grass and put them underneath. After 5 minutes I only had 2 eggs, so dad gave me some help.

At the end of our egg hunt I had a total of 5 eggs and $6. Liz had 4 eggs and $2. Steph had 10 eggs and $2. Looks like I found the good eggs! After counting our eggs and money we all headed to the park for some sand volleyball and playground fun. Yummy frozen custard from Leon's was had after :)

On my last day I took my sisters to Yogurtland. This yummy discovery was made during my trip to San Diego and ever since then I've been craving it. Luckly they happened to have one in the Dallas area.

Once I got my sisters hoooked on Yogurtland we took a visit to the mall near by and made a few more purchases to be put on dads credit card. On our way back home we got lost. I dont live here, therefore I am not familiar with all these highways that go here and there, not to mention the added tollways! Oh and not only were we lost, but it was during rush hour traffic and our car was on empty. So we called dad and told him kinda were we were at so he could get us home...we eventually got there :) Gotta love big unfamiliar cities!

a few thoughts on General Conference...

I loved conference! So many great talks I'm looking forward to reading when they come out in the Ensign. I felt like the message of each talk were answers to prayers and to the questions I've had in mind lately. I'm so grateful for the opportunity I had to listen and partake of such great inspirational messages. It just brings a smile to my face!
A few weeks before conference I was in this slump, a bit lost and confused as to what to do with life and where it was going, whether I'm where I'm suppose to be, what the future holds,...pretty much over analyzing my life. All this left me feeling stressed, overwhelmed, and hopeless. Now after listening to conference I feel rejuvenated, I have hope, joy, excitement and I'm motivated to make changes in my life for the better. My favorite session was the Sunday morning session, partially because that was the only session where I didn't fall asleep *oops*. One day I will make it through every session without falling asleep once :)

At some point, you have to make a decision. Boundaries don't keep other people out. They fence you in. Life is messy. That's how we're made. So you can waste your life drawing lines. Or you can live your life crossing them.
